Women Grow Leadership Summit
The 2018 Women Grow Leadership Summit is an annual event here in Denver that brings 45 chapters from around the country together to network and hear keynote speakers, which included our very own Goldie Solodar in this year’s lineup! This was our first year participating in the summit and it was fun to see what all the hype was about. With a mostly female demographic, we were able to meet and network with many like-minded women that want to speak up and out about cannabis and its benefits. There were advocates, authors, investors, and innovators as well as those who just wanted to learn more and support the cause.
City Sessions was asked to sponsor the transportation for the event and we were thrilled to have the opportunity to strut our stuff. We loaded up a couple of buses (that we usually use for our Boutique Bus Tour) and set up outside the hotel lobby to pick up groups from the convention and take them to the Clinic on Colorado to pick up their gift bags. En route, we gave the group an education on our services, the products available on the market, and how to choose the right product for their body chemistry.
There were great conversations sparked during the drive and upon entering the dispensary, almost all the women purchased a variety of products that weren’t included in the gift bags. As I walked around seeing if anyone needed help shopping, I heard many of them talking about how blown away they were not only by how beautiful the space was but by the variety of high-end lifestyle products that were available. The 1906 Sex chocolates were a particularly big hit as Valentine’s Day was only a couple weeks away!
With full bags, the women loaded back up onto the bus and they were able to start sampling their purchases as we made our way back. As conversations moved towards people’s interest in the cannabis industry, it became clear that most of these women (and men) would benefit from our Industry Insider tour, and many of them said that they would be seeking our services once they got the ball rolling on their business.
On the second day of the summit, Goldie gave her keynote talk, From Nothing to Something, on being a female canna-business entrepreneur, bootstrapping her business from the ground up without any investors. Beginning with her inspiration for the company and getting started out of her Honda CRV, to where the business is today! Also among the Keynote speakers was 12yo Alexis Bortell, who is currently suing Jeff Sessions over access to cannabis to treat her seizures, as well as business professionals, consultants, parents, journalists, business owners, advocates, and a variety of other cannabis supporters.
