2018 Cannabis Wedding Expo
In late January the City Sessions’ Crew took part in the 3rd Annual Cannabis Wedding Expo in Lafayette. This event brought together “canna-couples” with forward-thinking vendors that are open to or exploring the realm of cannabis in weddings! The expo took place at the Lionsgate Event Centre, a large ranch style venue with a couple of large buildings, a chandelier filled barn, and wide open yards filled with old trees and fancy chickens.
Within the main buildings were tables spread out with vendors of every kind. From caterers to edible producers, smoking centerpieces to natural topicals, and everything in between! Our booth was settled comfortably between our friend’s at Love’s Oven and the vivacious ladies (and gent) of Foria, a female pleasure company. We were primarily promoting our Bachelor & Bachelorette parties, as wedding season is right around the corner, as well as our Honeymoon experiences and Family vacations!
It was amazing to see the turn out of so many couples that wanted to include a cannabis element to their big day. With so many locals in attendance, we were able to reach a demographic that we don’t normally see. Not only was there an abundance of engaged couples of all types, we saw many family members and friends that wanted to show up for support as well as people interested in seeing what all the fuss was about.
As we took turns exploring the event, it was incredible to see so many innovators finding their niche in the expanding world of cannabis. And although not all of the vendors were infused or directly tied to cannabis, they saw the opportunity arise and seized it while maintaining a high level of professionalism. None of the vendors were going for your stereotypical stoner, all of them were tasteful and worth the approval of even the most conservative family member.
In the Chandelier Barn (which was breathtakingly beautiful) one of the nation’s top cake makers had decorated the most gorgeous cake to look like a big juicy cannabis bud! It seemed a shame that a work of art like that was meant to be consumed. There was a dress designer that made gowns out of hemp with little pot leaf accents. Even a mobile speakeasy that you can rent to keep any cannabis consumption discrete!
By the end of the event, we were all inspired for our future big day! We look forward to seeing what the future brings, and we HIGHLY recommend making it out to the 4th Annual Cannabis Wedding Expo next year!
